A joint operation between our Folkestone and Immingham offices saw the successful delivery of a powder cement silo worth nearly 200,000 euros last week.
As our Scandinavian services go from strength to strength we were entrusted with transporting the silo from its manufacturing site in Cambridgeshire to the client in Sarpsborg, Norway.
At nearly 12 metres long, over 3.5 metres at its widest point, and weighing nearly 10 tonnes this was a challenging job with the route and permits requiring meticulous planning.
The loading of the silo (which had to be craned into position) onto one of our approved subcontractors’ extendable Low Loaders was managed by the Folkestone office, with Immingham taking care of the HMRC export documentation.
The silo arrived in perfect condition and in the delivery timeframe given by the client.
With any transport by road you face daily challenges with traffic jams, ferry delays, bad weather, and vehicle breakdowns to name a few, which can threaten planned transit times. You have to have contingency plans in place for these occasions. It’s therefore very rewarding when an oversize load such as this one, which could pose even further challenges, collects and delivers as planned; safely and well within the required time restraints. A big thankyou to all involved.
