Please be advised that the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) trade union have announced strike action for Border Force agents at Heathrow Airport.
The union has said that the action involves 650 members who will walk out on Saturday 31st August for four days. The strike action will affect PCS members who work at terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5.
After the initial 4 day strike, a further period of ‘work to rule’ will come into place, whereby no overtime is undertaken and no work beyond what is contractually required will be done. The period of ‘work to rule’ will run until Sunday 22nd September.
A representative for the Home Office said: “We appreciate the tireless work that Border Force do to keep our borders safe and secure, and we are committed to continuing our conversations with the union so we can find an agreement that works for both the public and staff. We will have robust plans in place to minimise disruption where possible, but we urge passengers to check the latest advice from operators before they travel.”
The Heathrow Border Force agent strike will affect air freight shipments, so please contact your local office to discuss any concerns you have, and the team will be on hand to assist with any queries. And for all of the latest AGI news, don’t forget to follow us on LinkedIn and Facebook!
