AGI News

Road Freight

Please be advised that the M48 Severn Bridge will introduce a 7.5t weight restriction for heavy goods vehicles (HGV’s) from Tuesday 27th May.

The weight restriction is estimated to be in place for 12-18 months. Essential works will be carried out on the bridge during this time.

The weight restriction on the M48 Severn Bridge will affect road freight shipments transiting the local area. A diversion to the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge will be in place, likely  impacting traffic in the surrounding areas. The diversion will add approximately 14 miles on to a journey.

Planned M4 Prince of Wales Bridge Closures

For any planned M4 Prince of Wales Bridge closures, National Highways have confirmed that vehicles over 7.5t will be allowed to use the M48 Severn Bridge.

Unplanned M4 Prince of Wales Bridge Closures

Should any unplanned closures of the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge occur, HGV’s over 7.5t will be diverted via the M5 and the M50. This diversion is approximately 100 miles. In addition to the extra distance being travelled, localised congestion might impact delivery times.

Please contact your local office to discuss your road freight shipments, and the team will be on hand to assist with any queries. And for all of the latest AGI news, don’t forget to follow us on LinkedIn and Facebook!
